The Parliament of Uganda has opened applications for media accreditation for journalists who will cover parliamentary proceedings and activities during the 2027 calendar year.
The Parliament’s Department of Communication and Public Affairs issued the call for expressions of interest on Friday, inviting editors of interested media houses to submit the names of their designated reporters for accreditation.
According to the notice, applications must be submitted by editors through the department’s official email address. The deadline for all submissions is Friday, October 23, 2026, and the Parliament said applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.
Media houses seeking accreditation have been asked to provide the names of journalists they have designated to cover Parliament during 2027.
For journalists applying for parliamentary media accreditation for the first time, editors are required to attach copies of the applicants’ academic credentials and curriculum vitae alongside their submissions.
The Parliament has also instructed applicants not to attach photographs to the accreditation applications.
The notice specifies that only names submitted by the editors of media houses will be considered, placing responsibility on the respective media organisations to identify the journalists they intend to assign to parliamentary coverage.
The accreditation process is intended to facilitate media coverage of Parliament and its activities throughout the 2027 calendar year. Uganda’s parliamentary media accreditation operates alongside wider national media accreditation requirements administered by relevant government institutions. The Uganda Media Centre, for example, maintains separate accreditation procedures for journalists and other media professionals covering national and international affairs.
Media organisations seeking clarification on the parliamentary application process have been directed to contact Ibrahim Manzil, Senior Information Officer in the Parliament’s Department of Communication and Public Affairs.
The Parliament has therefore urged interested media houses to submit their designated reporters before the October 23 deadline to be considered for accreditation for the 2027 calendar year.
