Bobi Wine

Ugandan Politician and Musician

Bobi Wine (Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu) is a Ugandan politician, musician, activist, and the principal opposition leader challenging Yoweri Museveni’s 40-year regime. Rising from the Kamwokya slums of Kampala to become one of East Africa’s most successful musical artists, Wine used his platform of “edutainment” to channel public dissatisfaction regarding youth unemployment, state corruption, and political repression. As President of the National Unity Platform (NUP), Wine has endured repeated arrests, violent military crackdowns, and prolonged house arrests, cementing his status as the primary figurehead for democratic reform and youth political mobilization across Uganda.
