Joseph Kabila

Joseph Kabila Kabange is a Congolese politician and military commander who served as the 4th President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo from 2001 to 2019. Propelled to office following his father’s assassination, Kabila governed the nation through the conclusion of the Second Congo War, oversaw the adoption of the 2006 Constitution, and established a centralized, highly lucrative political-business empire. His 18-year tenure was characterized by the systemic extraction of state mining revenue, violent suppression of political opposition, delayed constitutional elections, and an ultimate political exile following high-treason convictions by the succeeding administration.
