Captain Ibrahim Traoré is the interim leader of Burkina Faso, having seized power in a September 2022 military coup. Born in 1988, he is currently the world’s youngest head of state. A career military officer, Traoré studied geology before joining the armed forces and serving in counter-insurgency operations.
