Uganda’s President Museveni Arrives in Tanzania for Official Visit

Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni arrived at State House in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday, August 6, for the start of his official visit to Tanzania, where he is expected to hold high-level talks with President Samia Suluhu Hassan and participate in several state engagements.

Upon his arrival, Museveni signed the official State House guest book before being formally received for the visit, which is expected to focus on strengthening the long-standing ties between the two East African neighbours.

The visit comes as Tanzania and Uganda continue to deepen cooperation in key sectors, including trade, infrastructure, regional security and energy. The two countries are strategic partners within the East African Community (EAC) and have collaborated on several major cross-border projects, including the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP).

According to Tanzanian officials, President Museveni’s programme includes bilateral discussions with senior government leaders, with both sides expected to review the progress of ongoing joint projects and explore new areas of cooperation.

The visit also reflects the close diplomatic relations between Dar es Salaam and Kampala, with both governments maintaining regular consultations on regional peace, economic integration and development initiatives across East Africa.
